EWP Nepal Campaign Planning Together for Success

EWP Campaign Planning meeting was organized with great energy and enthusiasm during January 29-30,2009 at Kathmandu. There were smiles and proud feeling spread all over the room while the people discussed about their achievements of Master Plan of Sanitation and Urban Water and Sanitation Policy in the process of endorsement as well as increased budget in the sector. The SACOSAN III declaration had resumed water and sanitation as human right that was also another positive effect in the sector.

Participants were sharing their challenges of proper coordination. People were not busy in blaming each other but were providing constructive criticism. There was the feeling that the comments were provided for our own improvement. It showed the commitment and ownership of the alliance members in the campaigning process. The same level of energy was seen while developing calls and designating roles for future campaigning. The global calls were geared up on the global framework for action on water and sanitation covering three aspects: Southern Governments develop credible master plan, Donor government ensures that no credible plan fails simply because of financing and one coordinated approach for the sector.

The recreation time after the meeting was full of music and dance. These were the moments that really brought the communities together. It helped in binding communities in a single thread and this feeling of cooperation and collaboration would definitely lead to successful campaign.
