End Water Poverty Campaign Planning meeting organized on July 9-10, 2009 emerged as the platform for consolidating efforts of End Water Poverty (EWP), Freshwater Action Network (FAN) and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) network in the common agenda of ensuring water and sanitation as constitutional right, materializing SACOSAN commitment and increasing and ensuring effective utilization of budget in the sector.
The planning meeting participated by 21 participants in Mirabel Resort, Dhulikhel reviewed achievements and challenges of the EWP journey using world cafe methodology. In a way, it was fun method of reviewing the challenges of the campaigning process without threatening any individual organization responsible for coordination. Briefing presentations of FAN and WASH was useful in creating understanding of these networks and their efforts in the sector. These presentations and reflections helped in the process of identifying common agenda for future course of synergized efforts.
The effort of creating a common campaign for raising these similar agenda could be considered as the major outcome of the planning meeting. There was development of task force for developing further details and working modalities of the consolidated campaign. Participants expressed that the road of synergy would not be smooth but if there could be collaboration and support coupled with commitment then it could be an exemplary effort in the sector.
